When is Just Jeep?
Just Jeep is being held over Easter Weekend from Thursday 21 till Monday 25 of April, 2011 - Feedback from the 2009 event was that you wanted more - Easter gives you 3 full days of Jeeping, but this does mean an associated increase in the costs to cope with the extra day.
The Just Jeep Camp at the Racecourse in Reefton will open for Check-in at 3:00PM on Thursday afternoon, with final check-out at 11:30AM on the Monday.
A wide variety of off-road trips will be offered on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
See here for more details and an itinerary of the weekend.

Just Jeep 2011 follows on from the successful Just Jeep 2009 event - held over Labour Weekend in 2009... Here's some photos from that event.

Do I need a Jeep to enter Just Jeep?
Yes, Just Jeep is only for Jeeps - any model and year of Jeep including Jeeps made under licence (such as Mitsubishi Jeeps). In fact, the Just Jeep Camp will be a "Jeeps Only" zone with all other makes excluded. Our three grades of off-road trips cater for all levels of Jeep - from the brand new shiny or historic jeep through to the biggest off-road monster!. Please contact the Organising Committee if your Jeep has a mixed pedigree for the final decision.

Where is Reefton?
Reefton, the Coast's only inland town is nestled in the Inangahua River valley between the rugged and spectacular Victoria and Paparoa ranges. It is centrally located at a hub of state highway access into the Coast, south of Murchison, Nelson and Blenheim and north west of Christchurch. See here for more info

I've heard that West Coast tracks can be scratchy - ??
Yes, West Coast tracks can be scratchy... but the grade 1 tracks will (with careful) driving be scratch-free. The other grades of trips will have varying amounts of "scratchiness" from none to lots - this level of scratchiness will be noted on each trip signup list.

When can I sign up for the off-road trips?
You can sign up for trips from 4:00PM on the Thurday of the event and each evening of subsequent days - all trips for each day will be listed with full descriptions. Trip leaders will be available if you have any questions.

Why do you suggest that each Jeep has a PRS radio?
Some of the roads we will be using to get to the tracks are virtually one-way, so we warn about on-coming traffic over the radio. Having a radio will also avoid frustration when the convoy stops - your can listen to the radio and learn why. Cheap handheld PRS radios are available from Dick Smith stores, Jaycar Electronics, and outdoor suppliers.

What will the weather be like during Just Jeep?
The weather is starting to cool down by late April and is generally settled and dry. But, this is the West Coast and it can rain... so ensure that you bring good wet weather gear including gumboots. A golf umbrella is great for tea and lunch stops if it is raining.

What EFT-POS / Banking facilities are in Reefton during Just Jeep?
The Mobil Petrol Station has ATM facilities (9:00am-5:00pm) and you can also EFT POS cash at the 4 Square. We recommend that you have some cash on-hand as there may be an additional land access fee ($10.00/Jeep) for some trips if the rivers are up.

What Petrol Station and garage facilities are in Reefton during Just Jeep?
Reefton has two petrol stations - Challenge and Mobil. Both will have limited hours over the Weekend - full opening time details will be posted closer to the event. The Mobil station has 24hr petrol via Credit Card and 24hr Diesel for users of Mobil Fuel Cards.
You will need to ensure that your Jeep is fueled ready-to-go at 8:30am each morning.

What food and cooking utensils do I need to bring to Just Jeep if I am camping?
You will need to look after yourself for Thursday Night's dinner (there are plenty of places of all types to eat in Reefton).
You need to bring and cook your own breakfasts - there will be toasters, microwaves and power-points, boiling water (zip) available, but you need to supply all your cooking and eating utensils for breakfast (no gas cooking inside dining/kitchen due to fire risk). Some limited refrigerator space is available for milk etc, but we suggest you also bring chilli-bins.
Just Jeep will supply packed lunch and Dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for all participants. We suggest that you also bring a thermos and coffee/tea and some additional snacks for the off-road trips along with picnic chairs etc.

On site at the Just Jeep Camp will be the Yellow Rocket Espresso stand for take-out coffees and snacks. The Party Hoppers bar will be open from 4:00PM in the entertainment/dining area for a variety of beers, wines and top-shelf (cash or EFT-POS with cash preferred) The entertainment/dining area is a no-BYO drinks and non-smoking area
